General Surgery
General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal organs such as the intestines including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. General surgeons also deal with diseases involving the skin and hernias. General surgeons perform a majority of non-cosmetic breast surgery from lumpectomies to mastectomies, especially pertaining to the evaluation, diagnosis, and surgical treatment of breast cancer.
