Babies and young children
We follow the national childhood immunization schedule. These vaccines protect against diseases such as tuberculosis, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, hepatitis B, pneumonia, rotavirus diarrhoea and measles. Your child’s vaccination card shows which doses are due.
School-age children and teenagers
Older children may need catch-up doses if they missed any vaccines. In addition, girls can receive the HPV vaccine, which helps protect against cervical cancer later in life.

What happens at your vaccination visit
- First, bring your vaccination card or your child’s card.
- Next, a nurse checks which vaccines are due and asks about any recent illness.
- Then the nurse explains each vaccine and gives it safely.
- After that, you wait a short time so we can check for any reaction.
- Finally, we record the vaccine and tell you when to come back.
Common questions about side effects
Most side effects are mild and pass within a day or two. For instance, your child may have a sore arm, a mild fever or feel a little unsettled. However, contact us straight away if your child has a high fever, difficulty breathing or swelling of the face.
